Across Racial Demographics, Interest in Purchasing Electric Vehicles is Considerable, but Systemic Barriers Persist

This report examines electric vehicle interest across racial and ethnic groups in the United States, finding that Black, Latino, Asian American, and white consumers all express strong interest in purchasing or leasing EVs. Drawing on a nationally representative survey, the report identifies systemic barriers—including limited access to charging infrastructure, affordability challenges, and information gaps—that continue to prevent many households from fully participating in the transition to electric transportation.
